Da Weekend

Happy 2nd Anniversary to us! That's right, it's been 2 years since we had our fabulous wedding and have been a little Marshik family. It's been a great two years and we know we'll be able to make it many more!

Friday: After work we had a Happy Hour with some friends at a local bar, Boondoggles. Good times, although we did have to fester in the sweltering heat for a couple hours on the patio - Where oh where did my little breeze go? The pizza chips made up for the heat though, with their tasty cheesiness. Mmmm Mmmm delicious!

Saturday: This day was dedicated to trying to fix up the office thanks to some spotty painting...unfortunately it looks like we'll have to repaint the whole thing to cover up our mistakes. Drat!

Sunday: We took our sweet time getting things done this day. We have sadly noticed that our "Lazy Sunday" times seem to be long gone. Any reprieve from the daily grind or overly planned weekends are hard to come by...adulthood (and gradstudent-hood) is stinky. We did, however, get to go to the Haak Winery (http://www.haakwine.com/) in nearby Santa Fe for one of their Sunday evening events. There was a steel drum band playing in the background, and a slight breeze in the air...lovely. We sat in the grass with some friends, drank the winery bottles of wine, ate our own food (or could buy)...it was wonderful. We'll definitely be going back again! On the down side, we decided "Oh wouldn't it be nice to bring the dogs. They'll love the people and enjoy the time out of the house. What fun!"...and brought the puppies to their very first family outing. Never again. It was craziness and they are still definitely "puppies". They aren't as disciplined we would like them to be and sweet holy hannah, the small one can wriggle right out of her collar when she's determined. We'll try again in a year....maybe. Love 'em, but leave 'em at home. Overall, it was a great experience.

Monday: Our anniversary! We woke up and had Maple Egg Cups (basically a portable, sweet egg-mcmuffin thingy) for breakfast, then packed up the dogs and headed to Galveston's Stewart Beach! It was beautiful there - no crowds since school just started for most of the kids, clean water, no stink and a breeze. We boogie-boarded on our little Galveston waves and had a blast. The dogs had fun digging in the sand and much to our happy surprise, Sammie really liked the water and the waves! Good times. After the beach we went home, cleaned up, then saw "Superbad". Good movie, not for the faint-of-heart for vulgarity, but it was pretty funny. We topped it all off with a round of sushi from Sushi Coast (love it!) and then hit Academy Sports and Outdoors for some snorkeling gear for Hawaii.

All in all it was an awesome anniversary and weekend.

"Work" Days

Yes, I love my job. Truly, I do. It's fun (sometimes) & exciting (sometimes) and fulfilling (most times)...but good golly could today go any slower? Anyone?! I think this is what they call Post-Mission Distress Disorder. Coming Down From the High. Crashing after working for 14 days straight with minimal sleep and overly salty, sugary, fattening "potluck day" goodness. It's a beautiful thing, coming down from mission stressors - except one thing: I don't want to do any work at all. Ever. Not even a little...weeeeellllll...nope, not even a little. So I escape to blog, if only briefly. Something that I fear I will become addicted to. Gross. I can't quite stomach it yet, but it's coming. Soon I'll be hooked.

Tonight will be spent trying to figure out what the heck Charlie and I are going to do about Hawaii - where we'll stay and what we'll do. We have 2 weeks to decide.
For those of you that may not be aware, Charlie is going to be stationed at Pearl Harbor tinkering on Navy ships for 2 weeks and as luck (and frequent flyer miles) would have it, I am going to visit him for a week. Yesssssssssssssss! When we get back, I have a week or two until I go to MN for Faith's baby shower and then the following week Mar and I will be headed to Switzerland for our 2-year anniversary (which just so happens to be this coming Monday).

"Oh those poor jet-setters!" you say? Well yes, we are now officially poor and 2 trips hardly classify us as jet-setting, but dag-nabbit we're outta this piece!

That is all. Seacrest out.

Day One - A New Blog Dawns on the Horizon

Today is the first day of our new "blog". We don't particularly like the word "blog", but sometimes we do things we don't particularly enjoy...like "blog."

So, here we are - finally in the 21st century. Sure, we still don't have cable tv, a tivo/dvr or the like, but we do have the "internet". Sweet, sweet internet. Sweet, sweet quotations.

For the benefit of all of our friends and most specifically our family from whom we are separated, Charlie and I decided to succumb to the popular pressure of blogging and get a website. Family, we do this for you.

We hope this will spurn in you, dear readers, a collective feeling of involvement in our daily lives. For all you FatMar and Jaimers lovers out there, this one's for you.

We miss you - C&J (and Sammie and Kirby)
